Whats the real reason for education?

Does one study for the passion of learning, or for the sake of learning?

Whats the purpose of exams?
- to test if you have been studying or not.

This just proves that people came up with exams coz many have not been studying as hard as they should and Exams are good ways to ensure that they do.

Has Education has lost its meaning and purpose?
